3 Types of Damage To Expect From A Winter Storm
When it comes to the snowy winter months, there is no doubt that storm damage repair services are in high demand. However, homeowners need to be aware of the damage a winter storm can cause.
What Types Of Damage Can I Expect in the Way of Damage?
Roof Leaks
Snow and winter storms may have a broad range of effects on your home. For example, if you have ice dams on your roof, water may flow through and into your walls, causing structural damage to your property. Also, the roofs may collapse due to excessive accumulation on them.
So, the roof can be damaged by excessive temperatures and freezing water's impact. If there are any gaps, they may quickly turn into a much more significant issue. In many cases, the weight of snow might be too great for a roof to bear, causing it to collapse.
Frozen Pipes.
It's possible that your plumbing might freeze if the weather drops below freezing. If water freezes and stretches, it may cause frozen pipes to explode. As the pipe freezes, the burst will emit water at high pressure from where it occurred. However, it's considerably more dangerous inside the house because it may not be located easily.
Fire
Winter storms aren't the only thing that may endanger people's lives; many more factors are at play. The winter months see the greatest energy usage overall since several home appliances, including heaters, are utilized often and for longer periods during this season. Leaving heat sources unattended increases the risk of fire in your house.

Emergency Storm Restoration: 3 Things To Do.
Storm damage is a problem that affects people throughout the globe daily. As a result, whether you've ever experienced a hurricane or will in the future, you must have a recovery strategy in place. Here are three things to do if you've been affected by storm damage
Know The Extent Of The Damage.
Taking a few measures before you begin the restoration procedure is vital, so you don't waste time and money. So, having a qualified restoration specialist evaluate the problem may help you choose the best line of action. Also, make sure you document the damage as soon as possible to show your insurer what occurred.
Get In Touch With Your Insurance Company.
You should contact your insurance carrier once you get a damage assessment to file a claim. When describing the weather-related damage to your house or company, you should be as specific as possible. Your insurance company should tell you what to do next and put you in contact with a few emergency restoration providers.
Collaborate With A Restoration Team Expert.
It's critical to conduct your homework before picking a restoration service. No one who intends to cut shortcuts or ignore the minor details should be working on your house or company. So, lookout for a professional storm restoration service near you.
Your Trusted Storm Restoration Company.
If you've suffered storm damage, SERVPRO of San Leandro is here to help you figure out what to do next. In the event of a storm damage assessment, contact us at (510) 352-2480 and begin the process of rebuilding your home.
3 Things To Look For In A Professional Storm Damage Service

We have the experience and the equipment needed to cleanup and restore your home and help get life back to normal following storm damage.
3 Things To Look For In A Professional Storm Damage Service
If severe weather, such as a storm, tornado, or hurricane, causes damage to your property, you should first make arrangements for a trained storm damage expert to inspect the damage. But what are things to look for in a professional storm damage service?
What Are Things To Look For?
Watch out for positive reviews.
If you want to know how valuable a storm damage restoration expert will be, you should look at other people's prior experiences with them, just as with anything else. Do not employ someone with poor online evaluations. In contrast, don't allow a few unfavorable reviews to keep you from hiring someone who has had an overall positive experience with most clients. Sometimes, a customer's perception of the restoration expert's integrity and expertise is more important than how the insurer processed the claim.
Affordable Prices
Given that you will be paying for someone's services, it is reasonable to assume that you would be seeking a storm restoration expert who can provide their services at an affordable cost. Even though you will be responsible for the expense of hiring a restoration expert, your insurance company may reimburse you.
Look Out For Ones That Work With Insurance
Professional storm damage experts that deal with insurance companies may help you submit claims more swiftly and efficiently. Depending on how many other people were influenced by the storm, it may take some time to get in touch with your insurance company, so having a professional on your side can be beneficial.
Are you searching for a trusted storm restoration expert near you? Trust the SERVPRO of San Leandro team to restore your home or business to its existing shape. Give us a call at (510) 352-2480.
What Is the Best Approach to Storm Damage Restoration?
5/11/2022 (Permalink)
Whether you have minor storm damage or something larger to deal with, we have the experience and the equipment needed to cleanup and restore your home
What Is the Best Approach to Storm Damage Restoration?
Immediately after a large storm, you must take action to limit the damage to your property. Luckily, you may be left with minor damages from the storms, which must be dealt promptly to protect your safety and valuables. Initially, assessing the damage might be intimidating, but you can be proactive in handling your storm cleaning by following these steps.
Priority should be given to health and safety issues.
Always put off the electricity when managing water damage from a storm. Stormwater may have penetrated your walls and electrical wires, which can lead to fire incidents. Also, switch off the water supply to your home, and avoid the sewage system if the pipes look clogged.
Take Pictures of the Storm Damage.
Please take pictures of the damage to your home as soon as it is safe. This will help provide documentation for your insurance provider. Follow your insurance policy to guarantee that you speak with the right specialists for any mandatory inspections. Ensure to conduct an inventory of both the inside and outside of the property.
Fix the roof.
The roofs of buildings take the brunt of storm damage. When the roof is gone, water damage soon accumulates. To ensure that the remainder of your home is safe from future storms, get your roof examined and fixed as quickly as possible when the cleanup is complete.
Consult Professionals About Water Damage Restoration
Professional flood cleanup is required to ensure that every square inch of a flooded home is completely dry. While you can help remove damaged items, it's better to leave the rest in the hands of a professional.
Contact SERVPRO of San Leandro immediately if you need storm damage restoration services today at (510) 352-2480.
What To Expect From Storm Damage Restoration Experts

Whether you have minor storm damage or something larger to deal with, we have the experience and the equipment needed to cleanup and restore your home
What To Expect From Storm Damage Restoration Experts
A storm is not a friendly scenario because it can cause a lot of harm to both structures and plants. Also, the building is at risk if the roof is compromised by wind damage. This can allow rain and snow to penetrate the roof's protective covering, causing the wood to expand and eventually degrade and mold. As a result, there will be a drooping ceiling and further issues. And because of the dangers of wind, rain, hail, and lightning, a storm damage restoration service is an excellent alternative for dealing with this emergency. Professionals in storm damage restoration services will likely engage in the following actions.
Complete Inspection
You can count on our professional restoration team to visit your home and do a complete inspection of the inside and outside of your building. This will assist them in determining the extent of the damage to discuss our plan to help return your property back to preloss condition. We’ll then work to remove the water that shouldn’t be there using pumps and water extracting equipment. In most circumstances, the restoration team will meet with you and your insurance company to discuss the remodeling ideas.
Use Of Professional Tools
Every detail must be agreed upon before work can begin. Depending on the nature of the storm damage, the restoration experts will utilize various tools. Professionals will use tools such as pumps and extractors to remove water from the impacted section of the building in the event of floods.
No chances For Mold and Mildew Growth
Mold and mildew won't have a chance to spread since generators will power their dehumidifiers and other specialized drying equipment. After disinfecting hard surfaces and shampooing salvageable carpets with specific cleansers, the professionals will also use deodorant to fight smells.
A Thorough Roof Evaluation
A storm damage restoration company can save your building by evaluating the roof and restoring the damaged portions if they are called promptly. In addition to sealing and restoring the roof, they also help with the ceiling.
As you can see, the storm damage restoration procedure must be handled by professionals when dealing with natural calamities. SERVPRO of San Leandro can help you if you've recently suffered storm damage and need storm damage repair or water damage cleanup services. Call us at (510) 352-2480.

We Have Storm Flooding and Our Sump Pump Failed in Oakland, Now What?
10/22/2021 (Permalink)
Storm producing heavy rainfall can cause flooding. SERVPRO is available 24/7 for all of your storm damage restoration needs.
SERVPRO Can Handle Water Removal from Flood Damage to Your Oakland Home – Call to Have a Crew Deployed ASAP!
While having a sump pump in the crawlspace or basement of your Oakland home gives you added peace of mind during storm season, there can come a time when the system fails. Whether you had an appliance failure or an outage where your sump pump didn’t turn on, you may be in for some flooding and water damage. The good news is that the SERVPRO crew is available 24/7, and we are happy to come out to your home to take a look so that you can minimize the loss and restore your interior to the preloss condition.
Is There Anything I Can Do Until You Arrive?
Until SERVPRO’s Green Fleet arrives at your home to help with flood damage in Oakland, there are numerous measures that you can take to minimize property damage, including:
- If you can locate the source of the water coming in and stop it.
- Always avoid hazards, such as unsanitary water, slippery floors, electricity near the water loss zone, and unsafe structures.
- Put plastic underneath furniture legs or remove furniture to try and prevent rust or permanent staining.
A sump pump failure can happen for several reasons, such as:
- Power Failure – A power outage is the most common reason for a sump pump failure. Many homeowners like to have their sump pump connected to a back-up generator to be activated manually if the main power to the house is off.
- Wrong Size Sump Pump – If the wrong size pump gets installed on your property, you will likely run into issues. A smaller pump is just as capable as the larger sizes. However, a sump pump that is too big will work harder than it needs to, or a smaller sump pump installation might not be able to pull out enough water. Each instance can lead to a shorter lifespan.
- Installation Issues – The sump pump should always be installed according to specific manufacturer recommendations to avoid the potential for severe water damage. If you are not quite sure of the appropriate way to install one, it is better to call in the assistance of a trained technician.
- Switch Malfunction – A switch issue is a common problem with sump pumps, which can happen when it shifts position in the basin, and it leaves the float ineffective.
- Not Maintained – It is often recommended that a sump pump gets tested every few months. Yearly service is also best to ensure that your unit will work when it is needed most.
- Clogged Discharge Line – If the water is unable to exit the property through the discharge line, the sump pump is unable to work. This line must be free from rocks, dirt, and other debris at all times.
- Appliance Defect – While it might be rare, there is always the possibility that your sump pump is defective. It is best to check and test out the pump upon installation to ensure proper function.
Will My Insurance Cover this Sump Pump Failure?
The failure of a sump pump is usually not covered with a standard homeowner’s policy. In many cases, there will be an endorsement, or an add-on, that you can choose to help with a failed sump pump and back-up. It is always best to consult with your home insurance provider to determine what your coverage might be, if any.
What Can I Do to Avoid Water Damage in the Future?
While it is impossible to avoid a natural disaster, you can be proactive about protecting your property. SERVPRO has enough experience to tell our customers some of the things to do to prepare for the future:
- Know the flood risk for your area

Floodwater damage restoration for your home is a job for SERVPRO. Our fast and immediate service prevents further loss.
How SERVPRO Restore Your San Leandro Home to A Clean, Dry State.
San Leandro flood damage is worse than an interior water intrusion since the water comes in due to a storm. That means it brings in small amounts of nearly everything it flows over, which means SERVPRO Water Restoration Teams also deal with the odors, stains, and other problems of soil, lawn fertilizers, trash from the street, and other debris.
How Can You Stop the Damage in My Home?
Our first step with any water is to remove all of the floodwaters from your San Leandro home. The difference with floodwater is that our technicians pump it directly into the nearest sewer access point or a holding tank for disposal at a water treatment facility.
Next, team members spray all exposed surfaces with an anti-bacterial agent to eliminate possible threats and to reduce the chance of mold expanding through your home. Technicians then use sponges and cloths to wipe down every item in your home, thoroughly drying them to prevent additional damage such as drywall staining and stopping the veneer and other finishes from forming bubbles due to absorbing too much water.
What About Property Too Damaged for Restoration?
Since we cannot guarantee the safety of any carpet that was underwater, we immediately remove them from your home after drawing out trapped water with extraction devices to make disposal easier. SERVPRO specialists next clean the floor underneath and dry it using fans and air movers to increase evaporation. Our team members can also perform many construction tasks needed to return your home to its original condition such as reframing and installing new drywall.

Facing flooding after a recent storm or flood damage event? Contact SERVPRO for effective water removal and remediation services.
Checking for Hazards After Flood Damage
If heavy rains, thunderstorms, and flash floods are frequent in Mulford Gardens, you must know the steps to take to protect your home and family from flood damage. Just one inch of floodwater can cause thousands of dollars of damage to an average-sized home. Regular maintenance is the best way to protect your home, such as keeping your gutters clean and checking storm drains for debris.
Flood damage to your Mulford Gardens home can be devastating, and the more time the water sits in your home, the worse the damage is. You need the professional help of our staff at SERVPRO to dry your home out as fast as possible. We do not hesitate to get to your home after reaching out to us so remediation can be started right away.
Storm-damaged structures could pose hazards, and floods can create large amounts of damage to a building. Exposure to water can weaken things such as flooring and drywall, making hazards for everyone. We check for structural problems before water damage restoration.
Ceiling Repairs from Water Damages
Other steps we take for safety include checking for gas. If gas is present, we contact the local gas company right away. If water has entered from above, we look for trapped water in ceiling cavities. Drywall disintegrates when wet, and ceilings could fall on you or our staff. We drill holes to release any trapped water in the ceiling and are careful not to punch them in a row and perforate the ceiling.
Particle Board floors that have been exposed to water might not hold the weight of machines or people. SERVPRO workers inspect the subfloor to figure out the kind and how steady it is. Exposed nails, broken glass, fragments, and other sharp objects could be present as well. The staff is careful to watch where we step and what we pick up.
Water Damage Restoration
Once hazards are located and taken care of, our IICRC-certified team can begin removing the floodwaters and dry your home. SERVPRO works quickly but efficiently to ensure that your home does not suffer additional damages.
You can be sure SERVPRO of San Leandro takes the safety of everyone involved in every case of flood damage remediation. If you live in Mulford Gardens, San Leandro, or the surrounding areas and have suffered from floodwaters, call us immediately at (510) 352-2480.

After that, contact your insurance agent and any family members to let them know you are okay. Once secure, communicate with the professionals necessary to get you the help you need.

Flood Damage Clean Up
SERVPRO technicians make quick work of removing saturated, unrestorable materials from your home. All wallboard, plaster, or paneling up to 2-feet above any flood level requires removal before an efficient drying procedure begins. The structural materials, exposed wiring, and plumbing require special handling. Saturated insulation needs replacing, along with carpeting and pads in most situations.
SERVPRO technicians understand how to avoid hazards that often accompany floods, turning off electrical systems, checking appliances and your HVAC system as a part of our initial inspection. Vinyl and tile flooring may require removal to properly dry the subfloor, while wood floors can dry gradually over time.
Leaking Roof from Storms
There may be roof damage from defective flashing, clogged downspouts or eaves, cracks, and deterioration caused by missing shingles. A complete inspection reveals problems like this and provides you with the recommendations required to save your home. We can help you avoid future damage by installing additional draining, backflow valves, or sump pumps.

Full of Parks, San Leandro Residents can Relax, Picnic, and Play Outdoors
12/3/2020 (Permalink)
San Leandro has it all, including SERVPRO! Let us make storm damage seem like a walk in the park.
Staying Healthy is Crucial for Everyone in San Leandro
Spending time at the park with family in San Leandro means fresh air, sunshine, and physical activity. Watching what you eat is only part of taking good care of yourself. Walking is excellent exercise. It requires no equipment, costs nothing, and is an outstanding choice for any age group. Families with young children can bring strollers – eliminating the need for a babysitter.
Kids often get a more strenuous workout just because their play activities are more active than walking. Climbing the ladder to use the slide, pumping the swing to go higher than anyone else, and crossing from one side to the other on the monkey bars all require a fair amount of exertion. Running from one area to another also gives kids a decent workout.
San Leandro has a Park Near Your Home
There are over twenty parks in San Leandro, including an option for those who want to exercise their pooches. You might already know some of these, and others might be complete surprises to you. Here are a few that might interest you and your family.
- Bonaire Park, situated at the corner of Juniper and Sagewood, is an interesting park. The round hills provide children with the thrill of rolling down the hill and climbing back up again. Adults and teens might want to bring a horseshoe set and play a few games at the facilities southwest of the playground area. Several picnic areas, complete with a barbeque pit, near the playground area, lets parents keep an eye on their children.
- Chabot Park, found just past the bridge on the south of Estudillo Avenue at Sylvan Circle, has horseshoe pits and a volleyball court. Very picturesque, many families choose this park for natural shots of their children playing on the swings and jungle gym.
- Grover Cleveland Park is a small neighborhood park sitting on O'Donnell Street. Its benches and playground are in shaded areas with winding walkways.
- Heath Park Tennis Courts, near 143rd Avenue and Rose Drive, can give you and your opponent some practice time while you improve your technique.
- Marina Park includes the Dog Park. The Parks Administration cautions dog owners to be mindful of the separate areas based on large or small dog breeds. Up to three dogs per person and each dog must remain supervised, making separating dogs impossible to do correctly. Leaving a dog in the vehicle during a visit so they can take turns is also extremely discouraged. Different visits ensure the safety of park visitors and their pets.
- Memorial Park sits across from Bancroft Middle School has areas for sports activities and quiet time where you can sit and think or read a book. One of San Leandro's first parks, it has two larger play areas for children to enjoy.
- Root Park provides a much-needed green space in downtown San Leandro. Located at the intersection of Hays and E. 14th streets, visitors can see the San Leandro Creek, as well as the bountiful plant specimens found throughout the park.
- Thrasher Park is located at Davis Street and Orchard Avenue. Although it is the oldest park in San Leandro, it has modern amenities not found at many other parks, including a skateboard park.
- Warden Park is near the intersection of Warden Avenue and Tudor Road. Perfect for parents of toddlers, this smaller-sized park has a tot lot. Smaller-sized playground equipment is much safer for younger children, easing parents' minds. Older kids might find the nearby basketball court entertaining, as well.
- Washington Manor Park is on Zelma, near Manor Boulevard. Friends and family can team up and play a game of tennis, basketball, or softball.
You can call the San Leandro Recreation and Human Services Department at (510) 577-3462 for more information regarding parks closest to you, upcoming events, to reserve a pavilion or picnic table, park rules (including those specifically for the Dog Park), or other questions.
Heavier Rain and Storms are Often the Cause of Flooding in San Leandro
City engineers take many factors into the ongoing design and development of San Leandro. Before construction begins on a new project, project managers must explain its expected and potential effects on the city.
Approval of each plan only happens after consideration of the project, and sometimes adjustments are necessary.
Despite such planning and the precautions involved, new projects can change the way rainwater flows across the surface of our streets, lawns, and parks. Fast-flowing rainwater can push tremendous soil amounts in unexpected ways, leaving drainage paths blocks for subsequent storms. Flooding can happen to businesses and houses, leaving residents with damaged property, inventory, and belongings.
SERVPRO's trained technicians use special equipment to remove floodwater swiftly. We arrive, ready to start and bring:
- Truck-mounted pumps,
- Hand-held extractors,
- Ride-on units, and
- Hand tools, like mops, buckets, squeegees, and sponges.
When we remove water after a flood or violent storm that forced rain into your open doors or windows, we do everything we can to get it dry as fast as possible.
We do more than removing the water. We also dry out things saturated with water from flooding or rain. We assess contaminated items after consulting with the customer, disposal and replacement, restoration, and further assessment as our options. This extra step saves our customers money and reduces waste while still providing them with the service they need in a crisis.
Flooding destroys flooring, the base of any living space or work area. We remove carpets after our ride-on extractors make them lighter by pressing out and extracting dirty water. Reducing carpets' weight makes it more efficient to remove them and start working on drying out the subfloors below. Methods like this help facilitate an efficient restoration project from start to finish.
SERVPRO of San Leandro works with property owners in our area after disasters as flooding happens. Removal of floodwater is crucial to a successful recovery and making everything "Like it never even happened." Call us for all your water removal needs at our 24-hour emergency line, (510) 352-2480.

Hiking trails, the ocean, a vibrant arts scene, and sports events are all within city boundaries and adjacent to other communities. Ideal for families, San Leandro boasts of top schools and plentiful parks, libraries, the Oakland Zoo, and other options for children.
If you are new to the area, you may find San Leandro very convenient to your lifestyle. Its transportation infrastructure includes numerous freeways and highways connecting most of the Bay Area and the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), which provides a quick alternative to travel to nearby locations. In terms of connectivity, you can rely on LIT San Leandro, a private-public partnership built to offer the fastest internet to the city’s residents. Both the Oakland Airport and the San Francisco Airport are close-by and an open invitation to see the world and for visitors to arrive and experience what the area offers.
High Population Diversity
The diversity in San Leandro’s population dates back to the city’s origins. The area was first explored in the 1770s by Spanish settlers and took an important role following the Gold Rush in 1849. Even though its core business has shifted from agriculture to manufacturing, the city holds true to its roots. Fertile lands and easy access to the water made the place ideal for settlers and commerce. Eventually, neighboring Oakland became the seat for Alameda county, but San Leandro continued its growth. Its neighborhoods still reflect Spanish architecture, and homeowners take special care to preserve their character and stay true to their heritage.
Annually (except for 2020), San Leandro holds its Cherry Festival, which celebrates the city’s heritage and looks into the future. This remarkable confluence of vendors, live entertainment, a showcase of local artists and crafters is a veritable reflection of what makes this community so rich. Nearly 30,000 people attend the Cherry Festival each year. If you are not prone to crowds, you can visit one of the many beautiful parks or walk alongside the Marina, including dining, golfing, and boating activities.
The city’s proximity to other Bay Area locations, including Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Oakland, broaden your scope even further. A quick BART ride can transport you into the unparalleled offerings of San Francisco, where there is even more to explore. The city’s diverse landscape becomes evident as soon as you step on the train and continues as you visit its landmarks. The Golden Gate Bridge, Haight Ashbury, the cable cars, and its financial district are juxtaposed to become the fabric that wraps a thriving business and artistic community. Whether you visit attractions like Alcatraz or decide to have afternoon tea at the Fairmont Hotel, people-watching alone can fill up your day. The traditions still evident in Chinatown are in stark contrast to the more progressive areas of San Francisco, and they all enrich the visitor’s view of the world.
Protecting Your San Leandro Home
Homeowners in the Bay Area, and San Leandro and particular, need to pay close attention to events within and outside their homes to identify risks and be prepared to deal with them. Although average temperatures are generally pleasant and make for the enjoyment of outdoor activities, storms can cause significant damage. The same can be said for accidents within the home, such as kitchen fires and ruptured pipes. Those, too, may leave homeowners needing professional restoration services.
The crew at SERVPRO of San Leandro is certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC), the certifying body in our industry that attests to our expertise level. Our experience in dealing with the aftermath of a storm or a fire makes itself evident from the minute we walk through your door. When you call our 24/7 hotline, you should expect-
- Utmost attention to safety, including the use of personal protective equipment and establishment of physical barriers throughout your home as needed
- Use of industrial-grade equipment tailored to the needs of your situation
- Complete documentation of our process
- Coordination with other relevant parties, including insurance and subcontractors
In the winter months, in particular, San Leandro residents may run the risk of stormwater entering their homes. Continuous copious rain can cause a rise in water levels and open houses to the possibility of flooding regardless of our efforts to prevent it. As some roads become unpassable and parts of the city come to a halt, homeowners find themselves needing professional help.

What Can I Do if My Wood Framing In My Hayward Property Gets Wet During a Storm?
8/25/2020 (Permalink)
If you ever notice that your wooden ceiling rafters, floor joists, or wall studs retained moisture during a rainstorm, call SERVPRO!
For Flood Damage Restoration Involving the Wooden Frame in Your House in Hayward Call SERVPRO
During a flash flood that strikes the Hayward region, several of your building materials and contents can get wet once moisture gets inside your house, including your wooden structure. Water can either leak in from the roof and follow gravity down, or it can come in from the ground or faulty door and window seals and soak into your frame.
How can you restore my wooden framing after moisture soaks into it?
During flood damage operations in Hayward, our SERVPRO technicians know that wood framing is typically composed of dimensional lumber made from spruce, pine, or fur. Sometimes builders use other types of wood in houses' frames, including structural composite lumber or laminated veneer lumber, which is composed of pieces of wood and an adhesive material.
• How do you inspect my frame for moisture? The best way to tell if your wooden framing material is wet is by using a penetrating moisture meter. Even if there is drywall covering up your frame, the meter's prongs can be driven through the drywall and into the wood. We can test both affected and unaffected areas to come up with a drying goal and see how wet the affected framing got.
• Can you restore my wood framing? When most wood gets wet, it expands and warps, but it can still be restorable in many situations. In rare cases, your floor joists, wall studs, and ceiling rafters could warp or buckle so badly that they have to be removed and replaced. Wood framing is considered restorable even when dealing with contaminated water if the affected framing is decontaminated or sealed.
• How can you dry out the wood framing in my house? Using a controlled drying process, we can increase the temperature of the material and lower the vapor pressure over the material's surface.
If you ever notice that your wooden ceiling rafters, floor joists, or wall studs retained moisture during a rainstorm, call SERVPRO of San Leandro at (510) 352-2480 24 hours a day.

Restoring Flood Damaged Homes In Oakland
It takes only an inch, or even less, of water to cause extensive flood damage in Oakland homes. When left unprotected and untreated, items such as floorboards and most furniture quickly become damaged, often to the point where replacement soon becomes a cheaper option than restoration.
When searching for a flood damage solution in Oakland, homeowners turn to SERVPRO. Our response teams move quickly into every home, duplex, and condo to remove standing water and draw out any other moisture that puts property and the structure at risk. Each member is trained on the latest restoration devices, such as water pumps, extractors, and dehumidifiers.
Each task starts with water removal. In most cases, there is standing water, which may look like a small amount but spread out over a two-bedroom home, can mean hundreds of gallons soaking into everything it touches. For smaller rooms, our technicians use small pumps similar to a water-vac, but far more powerful and adjustable to avoid damaging floors and furniture. For rooms with more square footage, they have the option of using larger pumps to include truck-mounted devices that can run off their own generator to quickly clear even mini-mansions.
After removing all visible sources of flooding, SERVPRO team members move on to items that already absorbed water or have water underneath them. For wood floors, that means using a water extractor to draw water from between floorboards and then from out of the sub-floor using a hose after carefully removing a floorboard that is normally under a sofa or bookcase.
To draw out water from furniture, technicians place items on pallets or blocks to increase airflow and position a commercial-grade dehumidifier nearby to carefully extract the excess moisture without damaging the surface. Our devices work far more efficiently than what a homeowner can buy in a big-box store, removing over 20 gallons from nearby furniture. Each one also draws water from floorboards without warping or splintering them.
At SERVPRO of San Leandro, we also proudly serve the residents of Mulford Gardens and many other surrounding areas. For more details on what our team of restoration experts can do for your home, call us today at (510) 352-2480. We are here for you.

SERVPRO of San Leandro provides a mitigation service that is Faster to Any Size Disaster.
Restoring an Oakland Home After Flood Damage
California homeowners may be surprised to know that every state in the US is vulnerable to flooding--even the more arid ones. Changes in sea level, as well as weather patterns, are enough to create sudden floods that cause damage to homes and infrastructure in one fell swoop. Homeowners with flood coverage may be relieved to have it, but without professional cleanup, the water damage can make their structures host to mold, microbes, and further issues.
If your Oakland residence needs rapid flood damage cleanup, SERVPRO technicians are ready to restore your home to a preloss condition. These professionals receive the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) training to maintain high standards in addressing fire, water, and mold damage as well as restoration of structures. SERVPRO works with you and your insurance adjuster so that cleanup complies with your policy as well as local regulations.
Completing a Proof of Loss for Your Flood Claim
Your insurance adjuster can assist you in the process of completing this portion of your claim. Make sure your proof of loss complies with the needs of the Standard Flood Insurance Policy and file promptly--within 60 days of the flood--to make sure you get compensated in a timely fashion.
SERVPRO technicians can also assist with this process by taking photos of the damage, taking inventory of possessions, and coordinating with both you and your insurance adjuster during the cleanup process. If you have crucial documents that are damaged by flooding, SERVPRO can create electronic copies of the papers so that you always have access to them.
SERVPRO Restores Home Fast
A successful cleanup begins with thorough monitoring of the situation. That is why SERVPRO technicians use a variety of moisture measurement technologies to evaluate the extent of damage before extracting moisture, disinfecting surfaces, and drying your home. Throughout the drying process, professionals can use penetrating and non-penetrating moisture sensors and meters to determine the progress made by the cleanup process. Infrared imaging allows technicians to see behind structures to determine if subfloors, studs, or fiberglass insulation require further drying.
Every surface in your home has an ideal humidity level to maintain its integrity, from hardwood flooring to drywall to your furniture. SERVPRO strives to ensure that items that can be safely restored are handled with the utmost care, and possessions that require replacement are not removed without documentation and the informed consent of homeowners and insurance adjusters. If your disaster requires general contracting services for restoration, your local SERVPRO is licensed to handle this type of work (#937457).

Floodwater usually has microorganisms, dirt, and debris. We have appropriate water extraction tools such as self-priming trash pumps, which are suitable for removing water that contains solids from a home. Our crew also sets up industrial air movers and dehumidifiers in a home to dry it thoroughly. We monitor the drying process carefully using moisture detection tools like moisture sensors and moisture meters to determine if affected materials are making progress towards the predetermined drying goals.

Preparing for Storm Damage in Oakland ahead of a Violent Weather Event
Violent storms and winds cause multi-million dollar damages across America every year. Rushing waters can burst through front doors, windows, and crawlspaces flooding the lower levels of your home. In areas that are frequent victims of these events, you must put together a plan of action during September and October. A plan of action could include putting together a storm preparedness kit of essential communication, medication, and documentation should you need to vacate the property in an emergency temporarily.
Once the storm has subsided, you should check your insurance plan for flood damage in Oakland and contact a restoration service to perform the necessary removal and repair work. SERVPRO operates with a significant loss recovery team that has extensive experience in dealing with extreme weather events. Our team has access to climate-controlled storage facilities should you need the contents of your home relocated while work is underway. We also offer on-call technicians throughout the night for emergency mitigation of loss after a storm.
We designate rapid response units as a go-between for first responders and general contractors. SERVPRO can enter the property to perform a scoping assessment in the immediate aftermath. Scoping is a necessary procedure that assesses the safety and security of your home. It is not uncommon for doors, windows, and roofing to sustain damages after a particularly violent storm. If left alone, these openings can allow rainwater and debris to enter the home, increasing the expense of your claim. There are also security issues to cover as, without adequate protection, your property can quickly be looted or burgled during the interim period between damage and restoration.
SERVPRO can put up emergency tarps over cavities in your roofing or structure to seal the home against the elements. We can also put in place emergency barriers to ensure the structure and contents remain secure. Both these tasks are essential to preventing further expenses while restoration procedure, which can take several weeks, is undertaken. A SERVPRO restorer may decide to perform mitigation tasks while onsite, including removing standing water, drying, decontaminating, and cleaning the property. These tasks reduce the risk of damages caused by prolonged exposure and create a safe workspace to allow general contractors to set about their work promptly.
Violent weather events require immediate action. Contact SERVPRO of San Leandro at (510) 352-2480 for assistance.

One Surprisingly Effective Way to Succeed With Oakland Storm Damage Remediation
4/14/2019 (Permalink)
As you inspect your flood damaged home, make a plan to contact the IICRC certified and experienced team at SERVPRO for water removal services.
Drawing Moisture from Hard Flooring and Fabrics after Flood Damage in Oakland
Removing water from a property quickly can significantly reduce the likelihood of permanent damages. However, in a flood situation, this is not always possible. You may need to evacuate the property or have returned from a weekend away to find your home ankle deep in water. Porous materials, like those that make up your sofa, armchairs or other soft furnishings as well as wood, can imbibe water over time making damages harder to remediate.
Our team is made up of highly trained individuals who can help you with flood damage in Oakland. Typically, the longer water is allowed to stand the more harm it causes and we can quickly mobilize equipment like gas-powered pumps or truck-mounted water extractors to remove it. Where there is prolonged exposure we may need to use a different technique.
Dehumidifiers are commonly used in a home environment, particularly in humid periods of the year. They work by drawing moisture from the air and replacing it with dry air. Since water naturally migrates from wet to dry, dehumidifiers can also be used to draw moisture out of porous surfaces by drying the surrounding air to 40 GPP- grains of moisture per pound- or below.
SERVPRO can deploy two types of dehumidifier depending on the scale and breadth of the task at hand. Refrigerant dehumidifiers are the more common of the two. We use them in 80% of the services we complete. They are particularly useful in drawing moisture from fabrics like carpets as well as drywall. The other type of dehumidifier is desiccant which use chemicals to dry below 40 GPP. These can be effective for denser materials, like hardwood or concrete floors, that have suffered prolonged exposure to moisture.
Removing the majority of standing water from a flooded property is a straightforward task. However, tackling that remaining percentage requires expertise and the right dehumidification equipment. SERVPRO is capable of assessing and applying advanced dehumidifiers to help restore your home to its preloss condition and preventing secondary damages after flooding.
Give your home the best chance of getting back to preloss condition, contact SERVPRO of San Leandro at (510) 352-2480 today.

SERVPRO Says Yes to Oakland Homeowners on Rescuing Hardwoods Post Flooding

SERVPRO States that Drying Mats Can Save Hardwood Flooring in Oakland
Can Hardwood Flooring in Oakland Be Saved by Fast Flood Water Removal?
Flooding can be one of the most devastating types of water damage. When flood water enters your home, the moisture needs to be removed and dried as quickly as possible to lower the amount of damage done to the structure and contents.
When called for flood removal in Oakland, our emergency technicians respond quickly to your initial call. Our SERVPRO vehicle arrives equipped with the equipment to handle any size home disaster. The technicians work quickly on lowering moisture with powerful air movers and dehumidifiers and heaters if needed. When hardwood flooring has been soaked, it needs special attention.
Flooring can be a total loss if it has been saturated with water; this is especially true with laminated or engineered boards. If the remediation begins quickly enough, floorboards made with hardwood can often be saved. Techniques such as placing drying mats to concentrate the suctioning of hidden water, and "tenting," which is cover larger floor areas with a plastic sheet to minimize the volume can be rigged by our SERVPRO crew.
In this process, SERVPRO technicians contain the wet floorboards with a plastic barrier in a tent-like configuration using a single piece of plastic. There is only one exit, and it channels moist air up and away from the flooring. Signs of hardwood floor damage include cupping buckling and warping. This appearance is due to the nature of wood to expand as it absorbs moisture. In some cases where the wood was dried quickly enough, the flooring can recover and may be sanded and refinished by the homeowner at a later date.
Mold is always a concern after a water loss situation. With the homeowner's permission, non-restorable furnishings and contents are removed from the home as they can harbor mold and foul odors and SERVPRO technicians concentrate on eliminating the conditions that can harbor mold colonies such as cutting away damaged drywall so wall cavities can thoroughly dry.
SERVPRO of San Leandro has emergency flood removal services available 24-hours a day. When you call (510) 352-2480, a certified technician dispatches a team with the tools and expertise to make your water damage situation a thing of the past.

Emergency Assistance Removing Black Water after Flood Damage in Oakland
A flood is an unfortunate event that can cause property damages and the necessity to call in emergency services. Often these events are the result of heavy rainfall causing road overflow which can migrate into your property. You need a rapid response unit to help assess the potential harm large quantities of water can do to both your property and your possessions. We operate an emergency line 24 hours a day and use local technicians to reduce call-out times.
The scope and breadth of flood damage in Oakland properties depend primarily on the type of water that enters the home. Flash flooding can happen in an instant, and the water which enters your property has traveled a long distance. During this journey, that water can pick up raw sewage, animal carcasses, herbicides, pesticides, and other potentially harmful pathogens. We call water like this Black Water and, if you suspect this type of flooding, you should avoid all contact with it until a professional arrives.
SERVPRO has qualified technicians who can deal with potential BioHazard substances and dispose of them properly according to guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency. By using a local service like ours, you can rely on technicians who are well-versed in local laws as well.
Our priority on arrival is to remove any furnishings or possessions that are in the affected flood damage area. We can do this either by moving them to a designated clean zone on-site or performing a pack out service. Pack-out services involve creating an inventory of all your possessions and sending them to an external facility where they can be cleaned using ultrasonic or mechanical cleaning methods.
SERVPRO work to a restore over replace mentality. For your possessions, we can use advanced equipment to restore them to their preloss condition. In the case of Black Water damage, we must demolish affected areas of drywall, remove and dispose of carpets and subfloor mats as well as assess damages behind wall cavities. The harmful pathogens present mean failure to do so could pose a real risk to your safety.
Getting your home back to preloss conditions is our forte, contact SERVPRO of San Leandro at (510) 352-2480.

Hayward Property Owners Make the Call to SERVPRO for Rapid Storm Water Removal

This Is Why Hayward Homeowners Rely on SERVPRO for Rapid Water Extraction and Recovery
Flood Recovery and Cleanup in Your Hayward Home
Most Hayward homeowners would like to get a flood and its effects on their property as far behind them as quickly as possible. The unfortunate aspect of this is that there is often much work to get done after a flood in a home, and without trained and certified help, many homeowners would do an inadequate cleanup and drying job for their property. Lingering moisture and contaminants can lead to biohazards and widespread mold growth scenarios for your house, both of which can cause health effects for those living there.
Ultimately one of the first actions that Hayward residents have to contend with is the flood water removal from the property. Removing water is an area where our SERVPRO Green Fleet equipment can shine, as we have truck-mounted pumps designed to remove water from properties at 300psi quickly. This fast extraction process can get our technicians in to assess the full scope of the damage quickly and help to save you money by letting our Contents Department remove at-risk and salvageable items and belongings from the property for focused attention at our nearby facility if this service is needed.
Depending on the path flood waters took to reach your property, contaminants from sewer systems, chemicals, oils, and other substances could remain saturated into surfaces and structural elements of your home. That is why in many of these cases, removal of the affected materials is the best solution, and then through reconstruction of the area, you can get your property to the way it used to be, "Like it never even happened." Framing, beams, and flooring support often get kept in place by our SERVPRO team, however. These elements get highly disinfected, cleaned, dried, and thoroughly assessed before reconstruction begins.
Removing flood water from your damaged home is only the first step in the often-involved process of recovering a residence after a disaster. Our SERVPRO of San Leandro restoration specialistsare available 24/7 to help you through a flooding emergency and begin mitigation and restoration of your home quickly. SERVPRO Offers Practical Solutions to Oakland Homes Affected by Flooding

SERVPRO Says Call Us for Contaminated Water Cleanup After a Flood in the Oakland Area
Controlling Long-term Effects of Flood Damage in Oakland
Flooding incidents can cause long-term problems if you fail to take proper remedial steps. Issues like microbes, contaminants, and structural deterioration can continue affecting the building long after it is dried. You might need to take several steps to eliminate these problems. We offer IICRC certified restoration services that can help you deal with the issues effectively.
Although the most noticeable effects of flood damage in Oakland happen fast, the ones with long-term implications might remain hidden for long. For example, floodwaters dump different types of contaminants into the affected areas including disease-causing microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses. A bacterium is about 1 micron in size which is indeed small because something like human hair is 75 microns in size. They thrive in organic matter and therefore remain in porous materials even after removing the floodwaters. Our SERVPRO team sprays an EPA-registered disinfectant immediately after arriving at flooded properties to reduce the number of these disease-causing microorganisms.
Mold colonies also pose the risk of long-term problems to the affected structure. Mold causes a wide range of problems including musty smell, and structural degradation of the wet area because it converts any surrounding organic materials to a source of food. Our SERVPRO technicians understand that mold growth is simply a moisture problem so eliminating all existing moisture and checking possible sources stops further mold growth. We also clean existing mold debris by HEPA vacuuming loose fragments and damp wiping other residues. Then an antimicrobial application exterminates dormant mold spores.
If parts of the property remain submerged for long, or if some moisture is not detected and dried, it can lead to rotting in wooden parts of the structure. Our SERVPRO team uses different types of water extractors to remove all standing water from the structure. In case we suspect water presence in hidden areas, we can use FLIR thermal cameras to find these areas without tearing everything down.
Flooding is temporary, so you should not let it cause long-term problems. Contact SERVPRO of San Leandro to help you. You can reach us at (510) 352-2480 any time. We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster.

Neglecting processes like roof inspections on an annual or semi-annual basis can leave you unaware when storms have caused substantial damages to the support system for your roof or individual shingles. One point of weakness can be all that is necessary to allow water to flow into your home from runoff or torrential rainfall.
Flood damages in your Oakland home can spread quickly to the point of being out of control. Especially when the flood waters enter through an area like the attic, they can widen out to affect multiple rooms simultaneously as gravity pulls the water towards the lower levels of your house. Combating these effects requires experienced technicians with specialized training in water restoration like you find with our SERVPRO team.
From the moment that our highly trained crew arrives at your house, we get to work quickly on assessing the point of entry for the damage your home has sustained. If the damage is not substantial in this area, we can board or tarp over this point of entry until the appropriate measures can get taken to reconstruct this damage to your roof.
The focus of our SERVPRO technicians following that step is to mitigate your loss by removing at-risk items as quickly as possible from all of the affected areas. This step is known as packing out, and it involves taking these items to a safe location for evaluation and focused restoration where required. Meanwhile, the restoration to your home has begun, and these removed items get returned following the successful restoration of the damage to your house.
As you can see, our professional restoration team goes to great lengths to navigate you through the often stressful experience of combating flood damages. If you have an emergency like this that you face in your home, you can always count on our SERVPRO of San Leandro water damage technicians to respond quickly and work efficiently to bring your home back to the way it should be. Understanding Effects of Flood Damage in Your Oakland Property Helps Improve Restoration

Regardless of the source of the flooding, outside storm or inside accident or pipe failure, contact SERVPRO to mitigate the damage.
Team SERVPRO Provides the Certified Technicians Who Have Studied and Witnessed How Different Materials React to Flooding
It is possible to save your waterlogged Oakland property if you take the right steps. The level of success also depends on how fast the restoration process starts, so you should start immediately if there is a chance. However, your efforts might focus on the wrong actions if you do not understand the effects floods have on various sections of your property. Knowing which areas can be problematic is essential even when you hire a professional to help with the restoration because it builds your confidence in the work they do.
During incidences of flood damage in Oakland, certain areas are likely to be more affected. The level of damage depends on the material used in the specific area and the general position of the area in relation to the movement of water. For example, the areas closer to the floor may end up submerged for extended periods, so the damage might be more extensive even if the water originates from the roof. Our SERVPRO technicians try to extract any standing water immediately so that the mitigation process starts reducing the period of exposure.
Materials like drywall weaken when exposed to water. Insulation too readily absorbs water if the fiber or foam used is absorbent. The situation is different for insulation made of closed-cell foam because it does not absorb water quickly. Before tearing down everything in the affected areas, our SERVPRO team inspects the entire property to establish salvageable materials. Retaining such materials can help reduce the costs of restoring your property.
You might be worried that the floodwaters would damage the wooden frame of the structure compromising its integrity. Luckily, the solid lumber used in the frames withstands flooding unless left sitting in the water for weeks. The wood might swell a bit after soaking up some water, but it eventually dries regaining its shape and structural integrity. Fast extraction of the water in the affected areas is essential to guarantee this and prevent problems like mold. Our SERVPRO team brings the necessary water extraction tools, air movers, and dehumidifiers to help dry any affected areas fast enough.
Call SERVPRO of San Leandro at (510) 352-2480 if your property floods. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster offering advice and the necessary assistance to restore your property to its preloss state.

Be Prepared for Flooding Events in Oakland--Contact SERVPRO to Reduce Water Damage and DIsruptions
Flooding of Crawl Spaces and Structures Require Prompt Water Removal to Mitigate Damage
Any time a storm comes into town, high-speed winds and copious amounts of rain likely occur. When a storm hits your neighborhood, many different types of elements possibly harm your Oakland residence. Rain sometimes creates flooding conditions, which often causes moisture to get inside your house. Other times, wind breaks windows and rain pours directly into your structure.
Unwanted moisture inside your home can cause many problems. It is sensible to seek out the help of SERVPRO's flood damage experts in Oakland any time you notice water coming into your dwelling after a storm. It is possible that moisture ruins your contents and building materials. If high levels of humidity go unattended, then mold growth occurs and can flourish creating significant secondary storm damage.
One common place that water gets into during a storm or flood is the crawl space. When water builds up outside your home the first area that likely gets damaged is the crawl space under the building. Some crawl spaces are small and difficult to access. If water ever fills up your crawl space, our team at SERVPRO starts mitigating the problem by making sure there are no hazards in the area. Once the space is safe, we remove any standing water that is present. Often, this water is "black" contaminated muddy water. Pesticides, fertilizers, sewage, chemicals, and even animal carcasses can add to the filth and pathogenic organisms found in flood waters. Our technicians use submersible pumps to extract all of the water possible.
Next our restoration crew figures out the best way to dry the crawl space and flooring materials. If it is possible, air movers and dehumidifiers get set up inside the area. If there is not enough room to get equipment into the tight space, other measures get taken. Sometimes, part of the floor gets removed, so the area dries. Other times we run a warm air hose off of a dehumidifier into the crawl space. Conduits connected to large LGR dehumidifiers often do the trick of restoring normal RH levels after some days.
Any time a storm comes into town and harms your residence, it is best to consult industry professionals. To get your water damage problem mitigated as efficiently as possible call SERVPRO of San Leandro at (510) 352-2480 for 24/7 assistance.

Monsoon Storms in Arizona
8/1/2017 (Permalink)
A gentle cloud burst rain shower.
Summertime is when it usually rains in Arizona. In the greater Phoenix area, the annual rainfall is less than 17 inches, but it comes in bunches. The rainy time of year is referred to as the Monsoon Season.
The sun can be shinning and the temperatures can be 110 F and then, clouds form overhead, or strong winds bring clouds from elsewhere. In an instant rain falls. Sometimes the rain doesn't reach the ground. It evaporates as it falls. This is called a Virga. Other times the rain is a fine mist like the rain in the photo that is "backlighted from the sun." But, then, it can be a downpour that often cause flash floods to the point where people are swept away and property damage. SERVPRO of San Leandro has travel to Arizona to assist in property damage recovery caused by the Monsoon rains.
Another El Nino Storm Year?
6/16/2017 (Permalink)
We could be in for a second year of El Nino Rain
Will El Nino Cause Water Damage in San Leandro?
NOAA the National Oceanographic Atmospheric Association has declared this year 2015 and spring of 2016 as an El Nino event. Will it be a heavy El Nino season year in the San Leandro area ... like 1997
El Nino is Southern Pacific Ocean warming and it does not have to be a wet year. In fact, only three of the 15 major El Nino events since 1949 had heavy rains events associated with the ocean warming. Some rain storm even happened in drought years.
However, scientists talk about similarities with this year and 1997. The similarities indicate we could see heavy rains in the East Bay and elsewhere in Northern California.
In 1997 large numbers of small sea creatures washed up on the beaches in Mexico and Southern California. The annual ocean Algae bloom was larger than usual during the 1997 El Nino season. This year, the Algae bloom is even bigger.
Another similarity was the fact that Monsoon rain season in the American Southwest, particularly in Arizona. It was pronounced in 1997 and is shaping up to be this year too. As I drive through San Leandro, Hayward and Castro Valley I see how many trees are struggling. I see lawn being allowed to turn brown and die. There is no question we need rain. Interestingly, the 1997 rains came after a period of drought. So did the other heavy El Nino rain events dated back to 1949. Let’s hope this present drought cycle is ended this year by this El Nino.
There is an old adage that says to be careful what you wish for. Heavy rain with wind can topple trees. It can cause street flooding and sewer systems to back up. Here in the East Bay we can also experience mudslides.
While we can’t stop all of this type of water damage we can prepare well and minimize its effects. We need to inspect our roofs, clean gutters and drains, trim trees and make sure creeks and drainage areas are not blocked and cluttered with debris.
Back in 1997 my company responded to several jobs in Castro Valley and in the Oakland Hills after trees fell onto homes. I also worked in a basement of an Oakland high rise when a sump pump failed. To solve the problem we had to use a pump truck, as a result of water damage to extract water from an elevator shaft so repair technicians could fix the sump. there re many ways water can affect a structure.
Board up service
6/3/2017 (Permalink)
Board up is a basic and necessary service.
There are so many ways that a structure can be damaged and could require emergency board up services of windows and doors, or large gaps in walls... Wind damage, falling trees and falling tree limbs, vehicles crashing into buildings are common causes. Vandalism and robbery accounts for many window board up jobs too.
The heat from fires can blow out window glass, and in some situations, fire fighters may intentionally break out specific windows to pump water into a structure to extinguish the fire.
At SERVPRO of San Leandro, we have performed emergency board up services for each of the potential sources discussed. Our trained and experienced technicians stand ready, with an inventory of board-up supplies to respond when and where we are needed. This is just another way we help our community.
Two Weather Storm Patterns Merging?
5/26/2017 (Permalink)
Preparing a cleanup plan.
2016 was an El Nino year. In Northern California we had increased rain that ended our five-year draught. In many ways we were lucky because, other than a few isolated locations, our region escaped the mega damage we might have experienced. (It was worrisome when we came close to a major dam failure that would have impacted hundreds of thousands of people.)
This year has all the indicators of being another El Nino year. It is also is shaping up to be a heavy hurricane season as well. Both events don’t usually happen in the same year. If North America has hurricanes, the Eastern seaboard and Gulf on Mexico could be impacted. To be classified as a hurricane, a tropical cyclone must have maximum sustained winds of at least 74 mph (Category 1). The highest classification in the scale, Category 5, is reserved for storms with winds exceeding 156 mph. It is possible that the West Coast could be pounded by El Nino storms while the East and South are experiencing Hurricane damage. That is a rare occurrence, but with the dramatic changes we have seen in weather patterns in the last several years, would not be surprising.
No question, climate change is happening and is in full force. SERVPRO of San Leandro is prepared to help any property owner who experiences storm damage here in Northern California, and we are ready to travel to other parts of the country to help with their local storm damage too. In the past we have performed Hurricane cleanup on the east coast and are prepared to do so again this year if need be. SERVPRO of San Leandro is an experienced property damage restoration provider.
2017 EL Nino & Strong Hurricanes?
4/27/2017 (Permalink)
Hail Storms in Texas are setting all time damage records.
According to many weather forecasting agencies and scientists 2017 is shaping up to be a potential strong El Nino year that could contribute to a longer and stronger Atlantic Hurricane season too.
2016 El Nino in Northern California brought heavy rains and a deep snow pack to the Sierra Mountains. Last year's El Nino rains ended California's four year drought.
Pacific waters near the equator continue to warm which builds the El Nino effect. Weather indicators in the tropics are alerting meteorologists about a potential record setting hurricane season.
The science of weather continues to develop, there's still a touch of "crystal ball" in weather prediction, but we all need to be prepared.
At SERVPRO, we respond to damaging weather events. We know that lightning strikes, rain and hail storms, and wind damage can occur at almost any time. We are ready.
